Dog Training

CONTINUE TO CHECK BACK FOR INDOOR TRAINING & ENRICHMEMT CLASSES COMING IN 2025!

My certifications specialize in the knowledge rooted in the scientific principles of dog training. This science and evidence-based method of positive reinforcement (force-free) training is proven dependable and effective. This method of training uses positive reinforcement to increase the probability that the behaviors (down, stay, heel) will be repeated and decreases your dogs impulse control without force. Counterconditioning and desensitization exercises are also utilized for dogs feeling conflicted or stressed e.g., walking past a garbage truck, getting into a vehicle, a cyclist riding by as you are walking. This training excludes aversive methods of using fear or pain stimuli to gain the desired result. Physical punishment will always end in a breakdown of the relationship and is shown to cause further fear and aggression.

THE BASICS – Puppies, adolescents and adults! This is a five week program with five one hour sessions each week. These sessions are in person one-on-one. The five weeks are comprised of exercises for politeness in the home, refined social behaviors in public and exercises for safety in the real world, like a solid recall! Included in the lesson plans are foundation games to solidify these new behaviors in an entertaining way. You receive a hard copy lesson plan weekly with tip sheets (e.g., problem solving, enrichment) and additional games emailed to you throughout the five weeks. Information on minor and common concerns like, house soiling, barking, and digging are also incorporated. A 15-20 minute phone consultation is done prior to booking training sessions, this is free of charge. Questions or concerns regarding training during and after the completion of The Basics are always encouraged and welcomed.

IMPORTANT: If your dog is showing extreme fear that has developed into aggression, has ANY bite history to other dogs, animals or people and showing high prey drive please contact a certified accredited Animal or Canine Behavioralist Consultant or Behaviorologist. I do have recommendations if required.

HERE IS WHAT SOME PAST AND PRESENT DOG TRAINING CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY:

Elizabeth is really incredible, our first session was a real eye-opener! In one hour she taught my husband and I so much about dogs. By the 5th week we were amazed with the new understanding of our dog Franny, who absolutely loves Elizabeth too! N. Shroff, Calgary, AB.

My wife and I were unsure of hiring a dog trainer, we heard of bad experiences from other dog people. But we knew that it was important for our pup, Radar to have the proper obedience training. A friend mentioned Elizabeth, a professional who knows her stuff! Our interactions with her were great! Radar is now a well mannered joy! We are so thankful for that conversation that led us to Elizabeth. J & M. McNab, Calgary, AB

Elizabeth is an amazing trainer! Our Blue Nose Pitbull Molly, was taught using positive reward training, it was perfect! We were also re-trained from our old ways. We highly recommend Elizabeth Minor. Thank you so much! Dan, Jane & Molly, Diamond Valley, AB
